Koy meets his siblings

Koy and I got visitors today!!  It was so nice to see these cute faces today!! I have missed them!  They were all so excited to meet their baby brother!  They all did great holding him and I think that he loved it!

Tasyn looks so grown up now.  She loved holding him though.

I think that Keyne is going to be a great big brother, he did great holding him and wanted to hold him more and more.

Tyce has been asking about his brother non stop.  Koy looks the most like Tyce, that's for sure!

Kanyon was excited to see him little brother.  He is just full of questions and so curious to learn about him.

Our first family picture!  We are a family of 7!

Terry with his baby!

The kids got really bored at the hospital.  It's a small room for four crazy kids.  So they played with the bed, making it go up and down.  At one point I was afraid that they broke the bed....

Grandma and Grandpa are here!!  Grandma made Koy a sweet little blanket.

We are doing good here.  I'm definitely ready to go home, I miss my family!  Tomorrow morning we get to go home :)

He makes 7!

I would like to introduce to you, our little guy!
Koy Dalan Gardner
Born 4/21 at 11:48pm 5 lbs 11 oz 20 inches

Now are you ready for the whole story?  I've got to write it down before I forget.

It all started yesterday morning.  At 5:00am I got woke up and noticed that I having some regular contractions while I was sleeping.  I didn't pay too much attention to them because I have contractions all the time.  They were consistent for about 2 hours and they went away.  They were horrible and I was able to sleep through must of them.  When I got up and to get ready for church, I got out of bed and I felt like I had peed my pants.  I went to the bathroom and noticed some bloody discharge.  I told Terry that something was happening, maybe my water broke.  I soon learned that I was passing the mucus plug.

I jumped in the shower and we continued to get ready for church because I wasn't having many contractions.  I called my mom and told her about it and soon after she was on the road to get here.  We got everything all ready for church, got bags packed just in case something happened.  We got to church an hour late, but went to all the meetings.  The whole time I was desperately praying that my contractions would continue to progress and stay consistent.  During Sacrament meeting, they finally started to get more regular and more real.  They started to be more in my back.  Once they were strong enough for me to be uncomfortable, we headed down to North Platte and left the kids with some friends from church.

The drive wasn't bad, the contractions were consistent and we made it there just fine.  We checked in at 5:30pm and got put onto the monitor.  My contractions were about 3 to 4 minutes apart and pretty strong.  Finally at 6:30 they checked to see if I was dilating anymore.  I was a 2 and 75% effaced.  I was so mad and devastated.  That is what I was at on Friday and I had just had 4 hours of contractions.  I talked with the nurse and told her that I live 2 hours away and she agreed that they couldn't send me home.

So they had me walk around and do some ball exercises because he was flipped the wrong way.  The contractions were definitely getting stronger, they were at the point that when they came I just wanted to go into the fetal position.  They were all in my back.  Finally at 8:00 she checked me at I was at a 4 and 90% effaced.  I was so glad that I was finally progressing!

I still had to do the excercises because his head wasn't engaged yet, so I sat on an exercise for awhile and then I had to do some other things to try to open up my pelvis.  Around 9 she put in my IV and checked me again and I had gotten to a 5.  By then I was ready for the epidural, I had had enough.  So we ordered that and by 9:45 it was in and I was feeling much better.

I was able to relax and so Terry and I watched some tv.  I still could feel the contractions but not nearly as bad as they were.  At 10:15 I got checked again and I was almost at a 5.  It was taking awhile to progress and he wasn't engaged yet, so she had me just sit straight up in bed for an hour.  It wasn't bad at all, I just sat there watched tv.  I could feel the contractions getting stronger, but it was mostly just pressure.

At 11:20 the nurse checked me and I was at an 8 and my bag of waters were bulging, so she called the doctor and to come break it.  At this point I was feeling great, I wasn't really in any pain.  The epidural made the contractions very mild, I could feel the pressure but it wasn't super painful.  They started getting ready for delivery and the whole time I'm thinking that it's still going to be awhile because all of the other kids took awhile.  The doctor gets in at 11:35, breaks my water.  By then I was at 9.5 and as she was breaking the water I immediately went to a 10.  I seriously had no urge to push or anything, I was just hanging out and just shocked that they told me it was time to push.

We got everything set up, they told me to try to feel a contraction, I really couldn't.  So I just pushed when they told me too. I went through one contraction and the head was out.  And in the middle of contractions the doctor told me to just push lightly, so I did and he was born at 11:48pm.

I seriously felt great and it was weird that I just had a baby because I wasn't in much pain at all.  I got to hold  him for quite a bit before they cleaned him up and weighed him.  He was so cute and little!  They had to really mess with him to get him to cry, he was just content.

Minutes after he was born.

Terry getting to hold him for the first time.

Isn't he just so cute?

He is just so sweet and content.  He hasn't cried much at all.  He was so alert when he was born and it was so fun to just talk to him.

Today he has been sleeping more and more.  But we have been getting some good chatting time.  I love how alert he is!

We are doing really well.  I feel great, I honestly feel so much better than I did 24 hours ago.  I just don't like being pregnant.  I am loving having a little baby again.  There is nothing like a newborn baby. They are just so sweet and innocent.  He is just so tiny.  His head is nice and full but his body is so tiny.  He definitely looks like a Gardner.  Mostly Tyce.

This morning it started to snow in Ashby, so I sent Terry home to get the kids and Mom and Dad made it there (yay!).  I'm so glad that everyone is here safely.  It's such a relief!  Koy is doing well but he's having problems eating and his blood sugar is low, so we have had to give him some formula to get the blood sugar up.  He doesn't mind it but is having a hard time latching on, so we need to work on that.

We are here until Wednesday morning.  I had strep B, so we have to be here 48 hours after he was born.  So feel free to text, call or message me on Facebook... I have plenty of time and no one to talk to :)

The end is in sight!

Yesterday I went to a doctor's appointment and finally got to talk to a real doctor!  She is a tempt though, so no dates were actually made but at least she agreed with me and told me that I would be induced by at least 39 weeks.  But I do go in on Tuesday to talk to one of the regular doctors and hopefully we can actually set an induction date and get this baby out of me!

Every time I go I get to do the monitor and then an ultrasound to check my fluids.  After leaving the last appointment and them telling I should come back in 3 days because the baby didn't "pass" the monitor, it was a little nerve racking. I knew that the baby was moving just fine but at the same time, I was a little nervous.  So I was glad when he did great on the monitor this time and had lots movements and ranges in his heart rate.  I took this picture to show the awesome contraction that I had.  If you've followed my blog, you know that every pregnancy I have a ton of contractions at the end.  They get exhausting.  They hurt, they are annoying and they are frequent.  It's just something that I have to deal with.

I did get checked and there is at least more progress.  At 35 weeks I was at a 1 and 25% effaced.  Yesterday I was at a "good" 2 and 50-75% effaced.  I get stuck at a 2, that's what happened with Tasyn.  I was a 2 and 75% when I was 34 weeks and then got stuck.  Had lots of contractions but she never dropped and then had to get induced at 39 weeks.

I could go into labor any day, I went in with Keyne at 38 weeks but I could just be stuck.  Who knows.  All I know is that the end is in sight.  I can start counting down the days to 39 weeks.  The best part is that my parents come on Monday night, so I just need to get through this weekend and then they will be here for 3 weeks.  Yay!

In other news, I got an awesome new laptop so I can start blogging in bed :).  Maybe I'll start updating this blog more because I spend a lot of time in bed, wasting time away.  I've been really enjoying my craft blog lately.  Some days it is what gets me through the day.  It gives me something to do and something to look forward too.  Because let's be honest, I'm not a country girl and living in the country is hard on me.

I have been decorating my house and things like that lately, so you should really go check out what I've been doing. Maybe I'll post some pictures on here too for the people that don't read my blog :)

Since I have realized that I am only going to have one girl, she is going to get lots of fun girly stuff.  And I'm going to have fun with her!  It's going to be hard growing up with 4 brothers.  I love doing her hair and dressing her up in cute dresses.  She already has a great boot collection too :)

Pregnancy Update

Before I start on this update, I just want to warn you that I'm a little grumpy today and I'm fed up.  I'm so ready to not be pregnant.... But here is the update:

I am currently 36 weeks.  This picture was on Easter at 35 weeks.

Up until last week, the baby was breech.  Luckily the baby flipped and is still head down.  Woot woot! I was so stressed out about a breech baby, mostly because living 2 hours away from the hospital and going into labor with a breech baby didn't sound fun.  Plus the whole c section thing and the recovery of it.  I don't have time for a long recovery.  We are doing Kanyon's baptism 2 weeks after the baby is born... well when I'm hoping he is born.  Plus the idea of being in a hospital for 3 days, 2 hours away from my family and friends sounded awful.  I get major anxiety in the hospital.  So I'm very glad that the baby flipped.  I am dilated to a 1 and 25% effaced, pretty normal for me.

Ever since the beginning of December, every time I went to the doctor's office I came out feeling like crap.  Because I always left with bad news.  First it was that he was boy and that I had placenta previa.  Then when the placenta got taken care of, he was breech.  Finally last week, I left feeling good and excited about having a baby.  And for the first time I actually felt like that I was going to have  healthy baby.

Well yesterday I went to the doctor's and got another ultrasound and monitored.  Why do you ask, because the baby is measuring small.  Even though I have told them that I have SMALL babies and that is normal for me, they still make me do it.  It's getting a little annoying.  Yesterday was the worse, I had an ultrasound and everything looked good.  He was moving and they even saw him breathing.  Heart rate was at 139.  The baby was measuring small (of course, he's not going to be gaining 2 pounds in a week) and so they decided to put me on the monitor.  Well the baby feel asleep and so there was no movement.  I sat on the thing for an hour.  The heart rate stayed around 120 and there was no movement.  My poor kids were so bored I had to just sit there.  Not sure why they even had me on the monitor, the baby was moving just fine, there was no sign or anything abnormal.

I'm just so annoyed with the clinic that I go to, it's like they don't even listen to me.  They told me that I needed to come back on Thursday to get on the monitor again and I told them that is not happening.  We are in a snow storm, plus I live 2 hours away.

So I am 36 weeks along and I have yet to see a doctor for an appointment. I have just seen the nurse practioners.  They are nice and all but I would like to meet and talk to the people that are actually going to be delivering my baby.  And to top things off, this morning I called them to see what the results of the strep B test were from last week and they turned out to be positive.  Probably would have been so good information to have and something that they should have told me yesterday.  So yeah, I'm really sick of the clinic that I go to.  I'm really ready to just have a baby and not be pregnant anymore!

Easter

Holidays haven't been great for us this year.  We were sick during Christmas and Easter just wasn't the greatest.  I think being 8 months pregnant has something to do with it.  Or that we tried to go to the local egg hunt and it was just a flop.  Or maybe it's because our kids have been super grumpy and just like to complain.  Either way, it wasn't the greatest holiday.  I'm glad that the holiday season is over with... it's a lot of work.

It wasn't a horrible holiday, the kids had fun and enjoyed it.  I'm just a cranky pregnant person....

Anyone, here's a few pictures from the day.  I really didn't make much for the holiday, I made the boys ties and that's about it.

We had an Easter egg hunt in our back yard after church.  Luckily the weather was nice enough and the kids had fun.
