So recently we have been trying to do family scripture and prayer. It's not always the easiest thing to do. Sometimes, we just plain forget and or the kids are tired and don't want to listen. So about three or four weeks ago I decided to make us something to remind us each night. Every time we do it, we just move the clothes pin up and when we reach the top, we get to go out for ice cream or a treat. We have been doing it for four weeks now and it has been working so great! We did miss a couple of days one week, but a new week began we and we started up.
As for scripture study, let's face it a 5, 3 and 1 year old don't want to sit and listen to the scriptures. It gets really boring to them quick. So for the past week, we have being going through the gospel in art kit that we got from our wedding. We take a picture each night and read the back of it. It's working great!! The boys actually sit and listen and are actually learning. One day we had a short one and Kanyon was sad because he wanted a longer one!
Before every prayer, Tyce tells us our to pray. He doesn't say the prayers but this is the way that he participates. He tells us, "First we fold our arms, then we close our eyes and then we bend our heads and say, 'Dear Heavenly Father.'" It just so cute!

What a cute idea! It is hard to do those things regularly when you have small ones. We will do it really well for awhile, and then not so great for awhile...its a crazy cycle.
I sooo understand! I've been really feeling a push lately that we needed to get better with this too, but it is hard to get the kids to listen. Using the Gospel Art pack is a great idea! The other day I bought the kids a 100 Bible Stories with 100 Bible songs at the Family Christian Book store. It's great! Just one short Bible story with a picture and a song to play after you read each scripture! So far we love it, especially the music, which I play during the day while they are playing. Good luck and keep up the great work!
That's a great idea to use the GAK. We used the scripture readers with the pictures up until a couple of months ago.
Cute ideas--both of them. Remember someone's (Pres David Bednar) conference address that said he didn't think his kids got a thing out of FHE except Consistency. That goes for Scripture Study and Prayer as well--the fact that you are doing it and making a precidence and a habit is what is important. They will learn more later--they are learning now, but the habit is what is most important. You are doing great!
